This story is bound to touch your heart, and may even make you cry. It sure did me.  As with all the things I get from facebook, you need to read it for yourself and decide how to react to it.

In Memory of Brandon MorrisonI was in a store to pick up some cheap oil for my vintage Indian because it drinks it like gas, when I saw a cashier talking to a boy that couldn’t have been more than 8 or 9 years old..The chick behind the counter said, ‘I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll. Then the little boy turned to the cashier and asked: are you sure I don’t have enough money?”The cashier counted his cash once again and replied: ”You know that you don’t have enough money to buy the doll, my dear.” The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wanted to give this doll to. ‘It’s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much . I wanted to give her it for her birthday.”

” I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.” His eyes were so sad while saying this. ‘My sister has gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister…”

Now , I ‘m not much on religion but my heart nearly stopped. The kid looked up at me and said: ” I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the store ” Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me “I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won’t forget me.” ‘I love my mommy and I wish she doesn’t have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.’ Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly..

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. ‘Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?”

‘OK’ he said, ‘I hope I do have enough.’ I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: ‘Thank you for giving me enough money!’

Then he looked at me and added, ‘I made a wish last night before I went to sleep ‘I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn’t dare to ask for too much.

I finished grabbing the oil and some tools in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn’t get the kid out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the kid?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn’t stop myself so I bought a bunch of white roses and I rode over to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and pay my respects before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever…

The love that the kid had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

Please DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE.

  • Bonnie Jean Hern The story has to touch everyone’s heart! It may even bring some tears. I think that drunk drivers that kill a person or people when they are driving drunk should be given the death penalty.
    *************************************************************************************************************
We should all pay attention to this advice. It’s from a lawyer, and it’s good advice that makes good sense.
ATTORNEY’S ADVICE – NO CHARGERead this and make a copy for your files in case you need to refer to it someday. Maybe we should all take some of his advice! A corporate attorney sent the following out to the employees in his company:1. Do not sign the back of your credit cards. Instead, put ‘PHOTO ID REQUIRED.’

    2. When you are writing checks to pay on your credit card accounts, DO NOT put the …complete account number on the ‘For’ line. Instead, just put the last four numbers. The credit card company knows the rest of the number, and anyone who might be handling your check as it passes through all the check processing channels won’t have access to it.

    3. Put your work phone # on your checks instead of your home phone. If you have a PO Box use that instead of your home address. If you do not have a PO Box, use your work address. Never have your SS# printed on your checks. (DUH!) You can add it if it is necessary. But if you have It printed, anyone can get it.

    4. Place the contents of your wallet on photocopy machine. Do both sides of each license, credit card, etc. You will know what you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to call and cancel. Keep the photocopy in a safe place.

I also carry a photocopy of my passport when I travel either here or abroad. We’ve all heard horror stories about fraud that’s committed on us in stealing a Name, address, Social Security number, credit cards..

Unfortunately, I, an attorney, have firsthand knowledge because my wallet was stolen last month. Within a week, the thieves ordered an expensive monthly cell phone package, applied for a VISA credit card, had a credit line approved to buy a Gateway computer, received a PIN number from DMV to change my driving record information online, and more.

But here’s some critical information to limit the damage in case this happens to you or someone you know:

    5. We have been told we should cancel our credit cards immediately. But the key is having the toll free numbers and your card numbers handy so you know whom to call. Keep those where you can find them.

6.. File a police report immediately in the jurisdiction where your credit cards, etc., were stolen. This proves to credit providers you were diligent, and this is a first step toward an investigation (if there ever is one).

But here’s what is perhaps most important of all: (I never even thought to do this.)

    7. Call the 3 national credit reporting organizations immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and also call the Social Security fraud line number. I had never heard of doing that until advised by a bank that called to tell me an application for credit was made over the Internet in my name.

The alert means any company that checks your credit knows your information was stolen, and they have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit.

by the time I was advised to do this, almost two weeks after the theft, all the damage had been done. There are records of all the credit checks initiated by the thieves’ purchases, none of which I knew about before placing the alert. Since then, no additional damage has been done, and the thieves threw my wallet away this weekend (someone turned it in). It seems to have stopped them dead in their tracks.

Now, here are the numbers you always need to contact about your wallet, if it has been stolen:

    1.) Equifax: 1-800-525-62851-800-525-6285

    2.) Experian (formerly TRW): 1-888-397-3742 1-888-397-3742

    3.) Trans Union : 1-800-680 7289 1-800-680 7289

4.) Social Security Administration (fraud line):

    1-800-269-0271 1-800-269-0271

We pass along jokes on the Internet; we pass along just about everything.

If you are willing to pass this information along, it could really help someone that you care about.

Here is just a small paragraph, but it tells of heroism that is hard to surpass. Read it and see for yourself.
Tonight an incredible story of heroism and bravery has emerged from yesterday’s disaster.

A teacher was impaled as she shielded her students during the Oklahoma tornado after 200mph winds spewed out deadly debris from the twister.
Suzanne Haley, who had been protecting children at Briarwood Elementary in Moore, suffered a horrifying injury where her lower right leg was shot through by a metal pole.
It appears that Ms Haley had her leg pierced by the leg of a chair or table.
Despite that she managed to somehow stay conscious and protect all of the many children sheltering in the bathroom of the school.
She went into shock on the way to hospital but is now conscious and recovering
