Update 7/23/13 On Tripp Halstead

Stacy: Good Morning. Tripp slept much better last night. So did Bill and I. Bill slept in the room with him last night. Bills work schedule is very random, so when he has two days off in a row, i take advantage and let him sleep in Tripp’s room one of the nights. Tripp is doing good this morning. I have him laying under his mobile and he is working so hard. You can see and hear him breathing so deeply trying to hit the rings hanging down. He is such a little fighter. I can’t even imagine what is going on in his little mind. Just like now, to use all that effort and concentration just to get your arm to move where you want it to. Some days I just want to scream watching him try so hard at things we take for granted. And that he took for granted just 8 months ago. To hold his head up, move his arm, not to mention just swallowing a sip of water. We are getting close though. His feeding therapist is excited with his progress. Not sure what we are going to do today. He doesn’t have therapy, but I never want to go a full day without him having some kind of stimulation. Yes, I need to do loads and loads of laundry, I need to keep unpacking, I need to exercise, but I am never going to let these things become more important than spending quality time with my baby. I am finding that balance more and more everyday. I never gave enough credit to stay at home moms. I have always worked full time and believe me, this is much harder for me. Keeping up with his ever changing therapy appts and Drs appts is a job in itself. And making sure to include fun activities for him. We take him swimming which is free in our subdivision, we got free tixs to a play, yesterday we were invited by friends to the lake, we want to try taking him to a kid movie, which in GA we have dollar theaters, so that is cool. We take him to our Kingdom hall so he can be around his friends, we have his friends over to the house and make sure they interact with Tripp. We have a free zoo in Athens that we always took him to before the accident, so when the weather cools off, we are going there. I honestly don’t know what Tripp is comprehending, but all the Drs keep saying, we gotta act now, this is his prime time to see what he can do. I want my baby back, so by gosh I am going to do everything in my power to make that happen. Thank you for all your positive comments. You have no idea how much they help me get through the day sometimes. I am doing the very best that I can given the circumstances. I love my baby with all my heart. And as always thank you for your prayers. I know that is the reason he is continuing to get better. Well, I think he is almost done with the mobile, so I better get back to him. Love you all and thank you for the loving support as our family moves forward through this tragedy.

Stacy: We are shooting some pool, so I was explaining how to be a hustler to Tripp. Ha ha Just kidding. He has had a really good day. Me, Bill and Tripps nurse have worked our bootys off trying to unpack more boxes today. But we are getting there. Every where we were we made sure Tripp was there. He got to try out chairs all over the house. Tomorrow is back to the grind, Bill goes back to work and we have therapy. If the weather is good, we are taking Tripp swimming in the neighborhood pool in the evening. His favorite thing to do. Well going to start getting ready for bed. Hope everyone has a great night. Thank you for the prayers, love you all.
